Why Abstract Mechanics ?

Our experience from day to day lives make us focus mostly on concrete, solid objects. We routinely check our phones and depend on them to a larger, sometimes alarming extent. We are caught in the whirlwind of commutes, work and suddenly it’s already afternoon. Now we scramble to make the most of what’s left of the day.

We then rush to our loved ones or to distract ourselves even more with movies, games or other things that give us that sweet dopamine rush. We seek some kind of comfort and yet we treat our yearning for peace and bliss with even more noise.

With so much time devoted to concrete objects and actions very few moments of our daily routine are dedicated to profound thought, meditation and contemplation of the Abstract.

Do we actually have free will ? And if not, can we still be free even in the absence of free will ?

What are the laws that govern our lives ? Are they any different than the laws that govern Nature at large ?

Just as an ad or a trailer tempts you to watch a movie my posts will attempt to provoke you towards asking questions and seeing everything around you from a different perspective.

Millions of pages have been written about science and philosophy. I don’t plan on adding millions more, quite the opposite. The Mechanisms that I’ve noticed as parts of the Universe are actually quite simple and I intend to explain them in short posts.

The description of the Abstract Mechanisms might sound very different than what you’ve encountered so far and yet they will be SO familiar to you. Indeed they are, because they are everywhere. Once you start seeing them, you will never be able to go back to not seeing them.

They are however Abstract, in stark contrast with our daily experience focused on concrete things to do, fixed places to go to. Thus these mechanisms go unnoticed because they are quite actually hiding in plain sight.

For example, do you know that the same laws that govern the formation of rivers are the same ones that can be found in traffic ? It somewhat intuitive that that should be the case. But the same laws are also responsible for how trees are shaped, how our lungs form or how you can design better cooling solutions.

All this is covered by the Constructal Law and it’s just a small taste of what this site will be about. I have many more observations to share related to the Construtal Law.

Soon.
